THE OMEGACARD®
The OmegaCard® is a credit card sized smart-card device that contains an information storage chip plus other advanced security features. OmegaStorage utilizes the OmegaCard® as part of its
Total Security structure. Use of the card ensures that the person requesting access is the actual cardholder.
The security check
is, at a minimum, three-fold:
- The
identity of the cardholder is verified at the time the card activated.
- The
point-of-transaction card-reading device actually verifies that the
person using the card is the same person to whom the card was issued.
This is done by a combination of proprietary technologies engineered
into the card and the card-reader (e.g., thumbprint or handprint
scan).
- After the
point-of-transaction card-reading device verifies the user, the
secured application (whether a computer terminal, door lock, light
switch, starting switch, etc.) performs a secured central database
query. If the OmegaCard®
user is registered the secured application grants access.
The OmegaCard®
smart-card is ideal for government or corporate high-security applications
that require the highest levels of user verification.
Version 2.0 is
scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2004.
